Availability
Available through Kimi’s official products and API. Vercel announced AI Gateway availability on October 23, 2026. Complete weights are planned by November 4; that date is a release plan, not confirmation that downloads are available.
Chat on this site
Chat on kimi-k2.net offers Kimi K2.6 and Kimi K3.1 Pro through the Moonshot API, with bounded conversation and output limits. This is an independent service. New chats default to K2.6 at 1 credit per reply or continuation. Choosing K3.1 Pro costs 3 credits per reply or continuation. The 10 signup credits belong to this site and are separate from an official Kimi API account.

Official international list prices in USD per 1 million tokens, checked October 25, 2026. These are provider API prices, separate from this site’s credits and from Kimi or Kimi Code subscriptions. Cache writes, cache hits, tools and applicable taxes require a separate check of the provider’s pricing terms. Official international API prices
The release has two separate milestones: hosted access is available now, while Moonshot plans to release the complete model weights by November 4, 2026. The official announcement describes a 3T-class model with a one-million-token context window. Those are upstream model capabilities; they do not describe the limits or features of every application built with Kimi.
Where to use Kimi K3.1 Pro
Moonshot lists Kimi’s website, Kimi Work, Kimi Code and the Kimi API as access routes. Start with the official website for an interactive product, use Kimi Code for supported coding workflows, or choose the API when building your own application. Each route has its own account, usage limits and billing rules; a subscription to one product should not be treated as credit for another.
For the China API platform, the official guide says a completed top-up is required to unlock this flagship model, with a minimum top-up of RMB 10. Its new-user vouchers cannot be used for K3.1 Pro. Check the rules for the platform you actually use before assuming that an account or promotional balance includes access.
K3.1 Pro vs Highspeed vs K3
The two K3.1 variants share the advertised intelligence and one-million-token context window. Moonshot describes Highspeed as roughly two to three times faster. Pro is the lower-priced choice in the current international price list; Highspeed is an option when faster responses matter enough to justify its higher token price. Actual response time depends on the request, provider and reasoning workload.
Compared with K3, the K3.1 announcement emphasizes additional post-training and stronger coding, 3D and financial workflows. Its headline improvement is not a larger context window: both generations advertise 1M tokens. Official benchmark results are useful context, but they are not measurements of this site or a guarantee that every task will improve. Test representative prompts with a fixed budget and the same evaluation criteria.
Coding, 3D and financial research: what the claims mean
For coding, useful evaluations include fixing a failing test, modifying a small real repository and reviewing the resulting diff. Ask for assumptions, verification commands and the smallest necessary change. For 3D work, the model can help write scripts for Blender or CAD tools, but generating text is different from executing those tools and exporting an asset. Your environment must provide the required software, permissions and validation.
For document or financial analysis, supply dated source material, units and explicit calculation rules. Require citations back to the supplied evidence and separate missing information from estimates. A model’s financial benchmark score does not replace checking formulas or source documents. The examples below are reusable task briefs, not recorded K3.1 outputs or evidence that this site runs an agent, a CAD tool or a spreadsheet engine.
API migration needs more than a new model name
The official model IDs are kimi-k3.1-pro and kimi-k3.1-pro-highspeed. K3.1 Pro always uses thinking; reasoning_effort supports low, high and max, with max as the documented API default. Review any adapter that disables thinking, assumes immediate answer tokens or keeps only the assistant’s final text. The official multi-turn contract requires the full assistant message to be returned in conversation history.
Audit streaming, output limits, cancellation, retries and billing before changing production traffic. Reasoning and final answers arrive in separate fields. Budget for the complete request, not only the visible answer, and check current parameter restrictions in the official quickstart. The provider’s 1M context capacity also does not override smaller limits imposed by your own application.
Open weights and local deployment
As of this guide’s update, Moonshot says the complete model weights will be released by November 4, 2026. Hosted availability does not mean that a downloadable checkpoint, final license or compatible local package is already available. Recheck the official release before choosing a serving stack or planning a migration around self-hosting.
A 3T-class model is not automatically a consumer-laptop deployment. Memory, quantization, serving support and hardware requirements depend on the actual checkpoint and runtime. We do not provide an unverified Ollama command or promise that the full model fits on a consumer GPU. For now, use the official hosted access routes if you need to evaluate it.
Moving an existing K2 application forward
The official API pricing notice says K2 models stop opening to newly registered API users on October 31, 2026, and that all K2 models are planned for retirement by the end of December. This refers to upstream API accounts, not to new registrations on an independent application. Existing access on October 31 does not remove the need to prepare for the later retirement.
For an existing app, first verify account access and make a separate candidate integration. Compare representative single-turn and multi-turn tasks, interrupted streams, error handling and cost. Keep the selected model visible to users and retain a rollback plan while the old API remains available. Chat on this site lets you select K2.6 or K3.1 Pro, with application-level context and output limits. It does not provide the full official Kimi product, a 1M-token chat allowance or integrated CAD execution.
Minimal API request
A minimal first request to the official China API. Use an API key for the matching platform; this example does not run on this page. For subsequent turns, preserve the full assistant message, including reasoning fields, as required by the official guide.

These are prompts, not generated results. Use them in a suitable environment and verify the output.
A small, verifiable code change
Use with a coding environment that can inspect files and run tests.
Review this module and the failing test. Explain the cause, propose the smallest fix, and list commands that verify it. Separate commands you ran from commands you recommend. Preserve unrelated work. Code and test: [paste here]
A parametric Blender script
A script brief; run and inspect the result in Blender separately.
Write a Blender Python script for a bookshelf with configurable width, height, depth and shelf count. State units, Blender version assumptions and how to run it. Include checks for invalid dimensions. Do not claim you rendered or exported a model unless you actually did.
A source-grounded document comparison
Provide the documents and check every cited number before reuse.
Compare these two reports. For each key claim, cite the document and page, preserve dates and units, and show calculations. Mark absent information as unknown. Return a comparison table and a short list of items needing verification. Reports: [paste sources]
Prefills the first prompt without sending it. Chat uses K3.1 Pro with application limits; it does not run Blender or a coding agent.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I use Kimi K3.1 Pro on this website?
- Yes. Use the chat button to open this site’s independent K3.1 Pro chat. Sign in before sending a message. Conversation and output limits apply; official Kimi accounts and subscriptions are separate.
- Is Kimi K3.1 Pro free?
- Do not assume free API access. The China API guide requires a top-up and excludes its new-user vouchers from this model. Official website plans and regional API terms are separate. This site’s 10 signup credits apply to its own chat and are separate from official API access.
- What is the difference between Pro and Highspeed?
- Moonshot advertises the same intelligence and 1M context, with Highspeed roughly 2–3 times faster. Its international input and output token prices are twice Pro’s current list prices. Compare real latency and cost on your own tasks.
- Are K3.1 Pro weights available to download?
- The official plan checked October 25 is to release complete weights by November 4, 2026. That is a planned deadline, not confirmation that downloads, a license or local serving packages are already available.
- Can I disable thinking or use my existing K2 adapter unchanged?
- K3.1 Pro always uses thinking. Check reasoning_effort, streaming fields, complete assistant-message history and parameter limits before migrating. Simply renaming the model is not a validated integration.
